Sarah Chang

Korean-American superstar Sarah Chang, one of classical music’s most gifted young violinists, makes a return performance with the SSO to play Bruch’s Concerto No. 1.Nielsen’s Fifth Symphony is dominated by a sense of conflict, where a tense opening breaks out into a battle between a solo side drum and the orchestra, depicting a fight between good and evil.

Tickets are selling really fast. the only one left are the $80 and $100 ones. My mother thinks they’re too expensive so I won’t be able to watch her concert 😦 Sarah Chang is one of my favourite Violinists of all time alongside Anne-Sophie Mutter, Anne Akiko Meyers, David Garrett, Yehudi Menuhin, Maxim Venegrov and Vanessa Mae.

Sarah Chang was a child prodigy who started learning the Violin at the age of 4 and was admitted into Juiliard at the age of 6 where she studied under the late Dorothy DeLay, teacher to some of the world’s greatest Violinists. Coincidently, we share the same name and we’re both Violinists 😀 Sarah Chang plays on a 1717 Guarneri del Gesu Violin which she acquired in her teenage years.

It’s a once in a blue moon opportunity to catch her here in Sinagpore. The last time she was here was during the opening ceremony of the Esplanade in 2002, 8 years ago. Be sure to catch her and the sso in action! Remember, tickets are selling fast!
